The wind and the sun were disputing who was the stronger.

Suddenly they saw a traveler coming down the road. The sun said, "Whoever can make the traveler take off his coat will be the stronger."

So the sun hid behind a cloud, and the wind began to blow as hard as it could. As the wind blew harder, the traveler wrapped his coat more closely around himself.

Then the sun came shone on the traveler. The traveler soon felt quite hot, and took off his coat.

一天，太陽和風在爭論誰比較強壯。

風說：“當然是我。你看下面那位穿著外套的老人，我打賭可以比你更快要他把外套脫下來。”

說著，風便用力對著老人吹，希望把老人的外套吹下來。但是它愈吹，老人愈把外套裹得更緊。

後來，風吹累了，太陽便從去後走出來，暖洋洋地照在老人身上。沒有多久，老人便開始擦汗，並且把外套脫下。

A man has two dogs: a hound and a housedog. He trains the hound to help him hurt and teaches the housedog to watch the house.

When he returns home after a day’s hunt, he always gives the house-dog some meat. The hound feels very angry. He says unhappily to the housedog, “Where I work very hard outside, you share my food.”

“Don’t blame me, my friend. You should blame the master. He doesn’t teach me to hurt, but to share other’s food,” the housedog answers.

Don’t blame children for the mistakes of their parent.

有一個人養了兩條狗：一條是獵犬，一條是看家狗。他訓練獵狗幫他打獵，教看家狗守家。

當獵人打了一天獵回家後，總要分給看家狗一些肉，獵狗對此很生氣。它不高興地對看家狗說道：“我在外邊追捕獵物十分辛苦，而你在傢什麼都不做，但你卻分享我的食物。”

看家狗回答道：“不要責怪我，我的朋友。你應該去責備主人。他不教我打獵，卻只教我分享別人的食物。”

“Can you out the hen into the pail?” Mr. Fox shouts. “No. She’s too big,” Billy Hare says, “Come down, please. We can take her up together. Jump into the other pail.”

狐狸照做了。當他下去的時候，比利就上來了。“再見。”比利從井裡出來時說。而狐狸卻出不來了。

一隻驢聽到幾隻蚱蜢在叫，便覺得很有趣;於是也想得到同樣有趣的音調，便問蚱蜢吃什麼東西過活，以致於能有這樣優美的聲音。

蚱蜢說：「露水。」

驢子聽了，從此以後也單吃露水過活，不久便餓死了。

這個故事告訴人們不要企望非份之物。
